Preparing for Flu Season At Paradigm Child Care

Flu season

It’s that time of year again when the weather gets colder and flu season begins. We here at Paradigm are ready and here with some great tips. Our flu season procedures include sanitizing highly trafficked surfaces such as doorknobs and light switches and washing hands frequently. We’ve also been teaching the children different life skills for staying healthy this time of year. We cover hand washing techniques, how germs are spread, and covering your mouth when sneezing or coughing.

Handwashing

We’ve been teaching the kids about proper handwashing techniques and how this helps with helping others from getting sick.  We even have fun ways to help encourage healthy hand washing techniques at home on our swift page. It has color pages, art and crafts and at home hand washing tip and procedures and a few funny jokes.

How to help Paradigm During Flu season.

The best way you can help us during flu season is aware of when your child may be sick and keep them home. If your child is experiencing signs of a communicable disease  or any of the following symptoms please for the sake of other children’s’ health keep them home:

  1.  Red or running eyes, colored discharge from the nose.
  2.   A cough that is persistent or productive.
  3.  Sores or crusts on the scalp face or body, including those that are draining.
  4.  Skin eruptions or rash.
  5.  Sore throat.
  6.  Swelling and tenderness of the glands, particularly about the face or neck.
  7.  Fever.
  8.  Nausea and vomiting.
  9.  Pain and stiffness of neck and headache.
  10.  Jaundice (yellowing of eyes and/or skin)
  11.  Persistent abdominal pain.
  12.  Diarrhea.

We understand that life can be hectic and taking your child out of school can be inconvenient, we understand. But letting a sick child stay in school can put our staff and other children at risk of sickness. No one wants to see their little one become sick, so if you can help us we can help keep everyone healthy and happy.  We have very strict policies about sick children here at paradigm and will enforce them.
