Childcare Jobs at Paradigm
In order to care for our students, Paradigm needs different positions to meet the needs of each child. Because of this, each position has different responsibilities to enrich the lives of our children and staff. Therefore, the requirements for each childcare job will be different. As a result, we have a list of all the positions available at Paradigm to show how varied our childcare jobs are.
Assistant Teacher
Summary
As an Assistant Teacher, you will be supervising infants and children on a daily basis. While fulfilling all safety requirements, an assistant teacher will perform your duty as a caretaker. In addition, you will assist the Lead Teacher in creating and implementing appropriate lesson plans and activities. Most of all, you will be doing tasks related to caring for, nurturing, and ensuring the well-being of all infants and children.
Essential Duties
- Implement activities for the children and attentively watch and attend to children.
- Perform duties and responsibilities in compliance with child care licensing requirements.
- Follow directions of Lead Teachers and Directors in overseeing children.
- Follow Directions and complete duties in the building assigned by the Lead Teachers or a
Director. - Effectively carry out all work duties in the absence of a Lead Teacher if absent.
- Follow all procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Participate in professional growth opportunities. (Staff Development)
- Maintain cleanliness and order of classrooms and supplies throughout the building.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Assistant Teachers must have a minimum of 12 months of experience or 2000 hours in a licensed care facility.
Lead Teacher
Summary
The Lead Teacher is responsible for supervising infants and children daily. Throughout the day, a Lead is supervising your assistant teachers and helping to create an enriching environment for your students. Another aspect is running the classroom and implementing lesson plans and activities.
Essential Duties
- Develop and implement educational activities for the children and attentively supervise and attend to
children. - Perform duties and responsibilities in compliance with child care licensing requirements.
- Conduct weekly meetings with Assistant Teachers and Aides.
- Meet weekly with Directors
- Maintain ratios and continuum of care by structuring families
- Assign duties to Assistant Teachers and oversee the actions of Assistant Teachers and Aides.
- Follow directions and complete duties in the building assigned by Director.
- Turn Lesson Plan Folders with all copies done for the following week by Wednesday by 3:00
- Follow all procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook/Policies Procedures book.
- Participate in professional growth opportunities. (Staff Development)
- Maintain cleanliness and order of classrooms, other areas in the building, and supplies throughout the
building by overseeing and delegating tasks on daily cleaning task sheet to Assistants and Aides - Other duties as assigned by Directors
- Delegate any/all ESSENTIALS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES to another staff member when not
in attendance.
Requirements
Lead Teachers need to have at least a High School Diploma/GED with a combination of 12 semester hours and/or 18 CEU credits that equal 180 hours. Also, per Michigan Child Care licensing rules, have 1920 hours of experience in a licensed childcare facility.
Qualifications
Regardless of position, all staffers must pass a background screening, which includes a criminal background check, drug test, and TB test. Furthermore, you must be able to perform their essential tasks. Though reasonable accommodation is available to help people with disabilities to complete tasks.
